I had put off posting this. Sometimes its hard to know how to word your thoughts. I also was hoping that this is not going to be a big deal.

A few weeks ago my dad went to the doctors. When he was growing up he stood on a nail but now the mark on his foot seemed to be changing. He was referred to a specialist two days later. My parents were going to go on holiday but were told to cancel this. So my dad had the mark removed from his foot and it was sent for tests. I think he was most gutted about cancelling his holiday.

So yesterday, the results came back. He went to see the specialist who advised it is skin cancer but on the low scale. He is going to be having an opp to remove further tissue on his foot and tests are going to be taken in case the cancer has spread.

I have to say the word Cancer terrifies me. Cancer is always a big deal. I've kind of framed my mind in an auto pilot state way to think its all going to be ok. Otherwise I just couldn't deal with it.

I know what it was like with my gran, or watching what my friend nicola went through when her mum passed away before xmas.

great to hear a more positive attitude, skin cancer is not a death sentence skin cancer is very common in Australia and I got rid of my lip cancer by rubbing the Aloe Vera on it two times a day but it has to be fresh off the plant not a bought gel.

Hello everyone, thank you for your thoughts and advise. My dad visited the specialist who is going to do his opp and he is very positive that once the surrounded area is removed. That will be it. So unlike the other doctor who was a grim reaper and a little blunt and put the fear of god into all of us. The specialist reassured us that this opp is all that is needed.

I will look up your book angie. That sounds very interesting.

sarah :-)

I am sure you are scared for your fathers health but I have a cure for cancer and it is a simple and common herb it has cured skin cancer off my lip and pilot friends ear it is an amazing plant and the good thing is there is no tissue cutting or scares to remove the cancer if you want to know more about this herb I will have a book out in ten weeks on this herb and how it can cure so many different illnesses the book is called "Cookin for Cures" the herb is Aloe Vera and the main secret is it has to be fresh off the plant to work properly I hope this will help your dad Angie

Sarah

My heart goes out to you. This can be extremely difficult time for the loved ones. Cancer can also act as a wake up call to reassess our lives and aims. Take great care of yourself in this difficult period. You know me long enough now to know my story and experience. Also how I grew from this to make changes that were vital to my wellbeing, mind body and spirit.

I would suggest taking a look at the Bristol centre website now renamed Penny Brohn cancer care now. The thing that can be hard and it is important that whatever route your father takes it is his decision and one that is supported. My own alternative program was working very well unfortunately the negative and hostile feedback eventually wore me out. Still I combined after intensive research different modalities and overcome the experience and it was life altering. My focus changed and I started to take better care of my own needs.

People are generally subservient to doctors and do little to help them selves. Those that do help themselves and take a role in their recovery have a greater chance to turn the experience onto something positive.

Take care

Lots of Love to You

Vida

Sweetie I'm sorry to hear your father. My best friend has been battling cancer for so many years I can't remember. Breast, stomach and blood and she's still alive and kickin! So you keep positive and encourage your father to do the same. I'll pray for your father that God's will will be done. Please keep us posted.

Most skin cancers can be eliminated easily. You have to be vigilant and aware of any changes to moles or spots on your body. Melanomas, however, are insidious. A good friend lost his wife a couple of years ago. She had a melanoma... in her sinus cavity. It's called a mucosal melanoma and in the time it took to figure out it wasn't a sinus infection it had metastasized. She fought valiantly for 5 months.

My uncle went to his dentist for a routine cleaning. They noticed an abnormality on the roof of his mouth. A melanoma... but they caught it in time.

Hi Hon. Im so glad he took early action, so many of these cancers can be totally eradicated if caught early. Im sure he will be fine, a holiday can always be rebooked, a life cant.
By the way i love your area of Scotland, my first engineering job was on the Forth Rd Bridge and spent many happy w/e's touring around there.
All the best to you and your Dad
Rob

Hi Sarah,

Thankfully it sounds as though they found it early enough....which is the key to success for almost all cancers.

Keep us posted.

Miss Monte,

We have come such a long way in cancer research. There are so many more options and at an early low risk stage there is so much hope.

I have worked with cancer patients and I know that "cancer" is no longer a death sentence . Take heart and do not worry too much.

So many cancer survivors are able to live very long quality lives today.

I will pray for your father and hope for the best.

Hi Sarah,
¿
Sorry to hear about your Dad, but it sounds like they've caught this in the early stages, and try hard as it is not to come from a place of fear.¿ My Mom had cancer for the 2nd time last Fall, colon cancer.¿ She was 78 at the time, very fearful and got very negative and that really does take you down.¿ I know it's difficult, but as I told her, remain positive as the changes that take place in your body when fearful and negative cause many other reactions within the body too.¿ She had the surgery and a heart attack during the operation but is totally fine now.¿ I did a blog up on here asking for prayers and good thoughts for her as I truly do believe in the power of the many.¿ Every day,¿ morning and night I said a special healing prayer for her too.¿ I'm not religious, more spiritual, but am a huge believer in the power of positive thought.
¿
I am sending good, healing thoughts to you and your Dad!

What is love? Love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you. :)
